“In every act of service, we discover a truth: kindness has no limits, and humanity is our common language.”
— Dr. Maa Malini
In Sydney, far away from her roots, Dr. Maa Malini, has built a world where culture, compassion, and community walk hand in hand. Her journey is not one of titles or positions, but of service — quiet, tireless, and transformative.
From a young age, Malini carried two passions in her heart: education and humanity. These threads have guided her life’s work, weaving together psychiatry, teaching, writing, and philanthropy into one powerful fabric of impact.

She pursued higher learning with determination, earning a Ph.D. in Moral Values and School Education and later becoming certified in Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of Sydney. But for Dr.Malini, knowledge was never for herself alone — it was to uplift others.

In Sydney, she founded AMAV – Australian Multicultural Arts and Values, a community organisation that has grown into a lifeline for many. Through AMAV, she created women’s groups to break isolation, senior support circles to bring comfort, men’s groups to encourage dialogue, and even free counselling sessions for refugees who had lost everything.

Her vision has always been inclusive. “Kindness has no boundaries,” she often says — and she lives by it. AMAV’s free magazines now reach readers in over 100 languages, and her Happy Life School equips children with life skills that go beyond textbooks.

But Malini is more than a community organiser. She is also a prolific writer, poet, and cultural guardian, having penned over 100 books and trained teachers in 52 countries to keep the Tamil language alive. Her YouTube channels, Yes You Can Australia and Tamil in Two Minutes, bring knowledge and culture to the fingertips of global audiences.

Her service stretches far and wide: raising funds for cancer patients and world hunger programs, organising events that honour mothers of children with disabilities, and leading multicultural celebrations that bring people of all faiths and communities together.
Those who meet her are struck not just by the scale of her work, but by her warmth. She has volunteered for more than 50 organisations in Sydney — from churches and mosques to temples and peace groups — because to her, humanity comes first.

Over the years, more than 1,000 volunteers have walked alongside Malini under AMAV’s banner. Together, they have honoured women leaders, supported charities, and created platforms for small businesses to grow.

Her story is not about building fame, but about building people. Each book she writes, each training she delivers, and each event she organises becomes another stitch in the fabric of a stronger, more compassionate community.
And in the heart of it all is Malini — a woman who believes that service is the highest form of living.
