Hi, I’m Kokila VKumar, founder of KBlessential.
I still remember the moment.
My teenage daughter, getting ready for something, standing in front of the mirror and spraying perfume all over herself in that generous, unbothered way teenagers do. I walked past, caught the scent — and stopped. It was pure alcohol. Sharp, synthetic, chemical — sitting on my daughter’s skin.
And in that instant, a question landed: why aren’t we reading the labels on the things we wear on our skin every day?
That question became KBlessential.
I started a brand overnight
Okay, that’s not quite true. I started it in three months. But the preparation took eighteen years.
They say execution is fast and preparation is slow — for me, that was very literal. For eighteen years, from the day my daughter was born, I’ve been blending essential oils. Quietly. In my kitchen. For family, friends, and anyone in my circle who ever reached out asking, “Kokila, do you have something for…?”
I’m a product manager by profession. I’ve spent my career building, launching and marketing products. But I never saw those two worlds; the corporate boardroom and my kitchen blending station — ever meeting each other. They were separate lives.
Until they weren’t.

The push I needed
Between jobs, in a quiet moment of my life, my partner gently encouraged me: “You’ve been doing this for eighteen years. What are you waiting for?”
He didn’t hand me permission. He encouraged me until I gave it to myself — and I gave it by finally stopping the wait for the perfect moment and just starting.
Within three months, I had launched. Business registration, name, logo, regulatory, website, blending, packaging — the lot. I was working fourteen-hour days. One night my daughter walked past at 1am, saw me still going and said, “Mum, are you a maniac?”
Maybe. But when you build something out of love, the hours don’t drain you — they fuel you.
The moments behind the range
Two moments shaped what KBlessential became.
The first was that moment with my daughter in front of the mirror. I created perfume oils that blend with the wearer’s own chemistry, so every woman and every man — becomes their own scent. And because they’re made with essential oils, they lift the mood too. Perfume that meets you where you are and where you want to be.
The second came from watching two women I love. My daughter, reaching for painkillers every month for cramps. My mother, living with rheumatoid arthritis. Then came the Ayurvedic oils — for menstrual relief, migraines, and muscle and joint pain. A gentler way to care for yourself, every day.

Oh — and I also have a son
You may have noticed by now that almost every turning point in this story circles back to my daughter. From the day she arrived, she’s been the quiet trigger for nearly everything I’ve built.
My son, meanwhile, doesn’t get much of the credit — but he gets all of the benefits. His sore muscles after the gym get the muscle roll-on. His skin gets the oils. He also happens to be the one who gives me the most honest feedback and holds up the mirror to me when I need it most.
Non-negotiables
Health is not something that should ever be negotiated.
I’ve been a single mother for seven years, raising two children while holding down a demanding corporate career. I’ve learned deeply that if I break, everything around me breaks. So, I couldn’t afford to negotiate.
That’s really what KBlessential is. A permission slip we give ourselves, to take care of ourselves, with intention.
My history teacher once told me, “Treat your body like a temple.” Two decades later, I’ve built an Australian brand to honour that one sentence.
Essence Of Wellness. Moments Of Luxury. That isn’t marketing to me. It means every product should genuinely contribute to your wellness and every roll of a perfume oil should create a little pocket of luxury — something you can slip into your bag and carry with you wherever the day takes you.
