A Girl Who Grew Up Around Diamonds
Some stories begin in the most unexpected places. Mine began in Bombay, surrounded by the quiet shimmer of jewellery. My father is a jewellery merchant, and from the time I was a little girl, I was captivated — not just by the beauty of every piece, but by what each one meant. A diamond is never just a stone. It is a milestone. A memory. A love made visible. That understanding stayed with me, long before I ever imagined it would become the foundation of my life’s work.
I went on to complete my master’s in finance, and in 2016, I formally stepped into the diamond and jewellery industry, joining Rapaport — one of the most respected names in the global diamond trade. It felt like the beginning of something. I had no idea how much bigger that beginning would become.

When God Had Different Plans
In 2020, my husband Harshil and I made the journey from India to Australia while eight months pregnant. The plan was simple — be here for the birth of our daughter, then return to India to continue building our lives. Life, as it turns out, had a very different script.
COVID arrived. Borders closed. What was meant to be a short chapter became six years — two years of COVID with a newborn, no family nearby, no friends to call and a world in lockdown. It was one of the most isolating and simultaneously transformative periods of my life. There were days that tested every part of me. But there was also something quietly powerful happening: we were putting down roots, even when we hadn’t intended to.
Australia began to feel like home.
Building From the Ground Up
Rather than wait for life to resume, I chose to move forward. I joined one of Australia’s largest diamond wholesalers, learning the local industry from the inside — its rhythms, its relationships, its unique demands. Every day was an education. Every challenge was preparation for what was coming next.
Because eventually, I knew. It was time to build something of my own.
I founded Samaara Diamonds Pty Ltd — a jewellery manufacturing company based in Sydney, supplying custom-made diamond jewellery to jewellers across Australia. From Sydney to Melbourne, South Australia to Western Australia to Tasmania, Samaara Diamonds works with natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds, tailoring every piece to the individual. We service the complete supply chain — from CAD drawings and renders through to production, jewellery configurators and even website support for our clients. It is not just manufacturing. It is partnership.
Who could have known that a girl from Bombay, working in corporate finance, would one day be building her own diamond company in Sydney? I certainly didn’t. But here we are.
The Little Girl Who Became Our Navigator
None of this would carry the same meaning without the people who have walked every step of it with me. My husband Harshil has been my constant -my grounding, my partner in every sense of the word. My family and my in-laws love selflessly, and their encouragement know no boundaries. My mom has been a pillar I have leaned on more than words can express. And then there is Samaara.
God’s chosen blessing for us. As my father-in-law so aptly put it, Samaara is our Lakshmi, our Devi — the light of our lives. A girl child born into our family after 80 years — need I say more.
She arrived in the middle of a pandemic, in a country that wasn’t yet our home, into circumstances that were as uncertain as they were beautiful. She was supposed to be born here and fly away. Instead, she stayed — and so did we. Samaara didn’t just change our world; she navigated it. From one country to another, through the building of a business, through every early morning and late night, she has been my biggest cheerleader, my best friend, and the living reminder of why it all matters.
The company carries her name for a reason. She is the heart of everything.
The Dancer, the Host, the Community Builder
I have always believed that who you are in life is shaped by everything you do — not just your career. For seven years as a child, I trained in Bharatanatyam, the classical Indian dance form. That discipline — the consistency, the practice, the willingness to perform vulnerably whether for one person or hundreds — taught me more about resilience and self-expression than any boardroom ever has. It gave me a stage, and the courage to stand on it.
That love of bringing people together has also found a new expression. May 2026, I launched Salt & Stories Supper Club — an exclusive, experiential vegetarian supper club in Sydney. Where Gujrati heritage meets modern dining.
It’s a place where food becomes a conversation and strangers become friends. The concept is simple and intimate: ten strangers, one table, a meaningful evening. Real conversations. New connections. Community built over food, stories, and the shared joy of being seen. Salt & Stories is an extension of who I am — someone who loves music, good food, and the magic of making others feel welcome and valued in a world that moves far too fast.
What Drives Me
What keeps me going in an industry as demanding as this one? The answer is always the same.
It is not just business. It is emotion. Every piece of jewellery I manufacture will sit at the centre of someone’s most significant moment — a proposal, an anniversary, a celebration of something hard-won and deeply loved. To be part of that — to hold a small, sparkling role in someone’s most precious memory — is the privilege that drives me every single day.
A Journey Still Unfolding
Samaara Diamonds and Salt & Stories are not endpoints. They are expressions of a life being lived with intention — a life built on resilience, on love, on the belief that it is never too late and never too far to begin again.
The journey from Bombay began with a little girl watching her father handle diamonds with care and reverence. It continues now, in Sydney, with a woman doing the same — and a daughter watching on.
The story is far from over. And the best chapters, I believe, are still ahead.
